Lou has worked at Franklin Animal Clinic in different capacities since December 1981. She attended Muskingum College in Ohio and graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Lou then made her way into the animal field since her interest in science and love of animals would mesh well with working in a vet clinic.
Lou has one daughter, who will be attending vet school at “The” Ohio State starting in August of 2013; a son, who works as a sales rep for Franklin Windows and Doors; and one precious granddaughter, who is in third grade. Between the four of them, they care for one horse, six dogs and nine cats.
There are a few things that you may not know about Lou:
1) She has had a life-long love of dance, in particular ballet. At 60, she can still do a grand plie but not without some serious creaking and cracking!
2) She was born in the City of Brotherly Love and raised on the east coast (which leaves her to question why she ended up in Indiana) where her father instilled a love of swimming in her. Lou says that this has made her rather Lab-like around any body of water.
3) She speaks a klein beetje (little bit) of Nederlands (Dutch) as she used to live in Holland.
To relax, Lou enjoys reading, writing and doing crossword puzzles and can be found spending hours planning and planting in her garden. Most importantly, spending time with her family makes Lou happiest.
